Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder, professionally Winona Ryder was born on Winona Minnesota. Her parents named her Winona in honor of the town she grew up in. Michel Horowitz' father was an editor and writer along with Cynthia Palmer and her mother. Ryder is a self-described Jewish and descends from Ryder's Jewish father. The actress has a younger brother Uria as well as two half siblings Jubal and Sunyata. When Ryder was seven, her family relocated to Mendocino County California. They didn't even have electricity. Ryder would read extensively because of the lack of television. Ryder began taking acting classes when Ryder was 12, and was enrolled in classes at the American Conservatory Theatre. Lucas was let go in 1986. Ryder, who was barely 15 years old, landed a role as a leading actor. Ryder was bullied in high school. Her thought was that by becoming an actor her behaviour was going to be corrected. However, it didn't happen. But she pushed on with her dreams. Her breakthrough came in 1988 with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder continued to be successful in her roles in many movies. In 1993 she received two nominations to win Academy Awards. One of the nominations was for her part as a character in The Age of Innocence.
